Our Mission
St. Cronan’s S.N.S. is a Catholic School which aims to provide a safe and caring learning environment, where each child is helped and encouraged to realise his / her potential.
School Policies
Our History
St. Cronan’s S.N.S. was set up in temporary accommodation in rooms in St. Cronan’s J.N.S. building in July 1975. The teaching staff consisted of Principal, Mr. Smyth and two assistants, Mr. McNally and Ms. Moroney.
The Early Years
1978: Our boys & girls G.A.A teams were founded by Mr. Garvey.
1979: The school choir was started. It was a great success.
1980: Our library was started. Back then it didn’t have too many books but it was still a library!
1986: The annual talent show began in 1986. There were some brilliant talent contests over the years. The aim of the talent show is to encourage talent and participation in public performance in the school. The talent contest has always been popular with the students in Brackenstown but you have to have great nerves to get up and perform.
1990: Ms. McGonagle always had an eye for prizes so she did something about it by starting the school's raffle and it is still running today.
St Cronan’s SNS today is an example of a progressive, positive working partnership between the Department of Education and our school community. St.Cronan’s SNS is now a modern school well equipped with facilities and the technology necessary to meet the demands of the twenty first century.
We are all partners in education: pupils, teachers, parents and the wider community which is why our school motto is “Cáirde le cheile ag foghlaim” - Friends together learning.
The Future
We are in the process of getting new buildings for the school. Further information and links to designs etc. will be posted here.
